Title: Young admins

Adria - July 5, 2008 02:07 PM (GMT)
Do you think young admins are better admins then old ones?

What are some advantages of being a young admin?
What are some disadvantages of being a young admin?

Well, I'm 16 and an admin. So I guess I'm classified as young.

But I do think that in some ways younger admins are better than older admins.

Younger admins can relate more to their members (if their members are young as well), also, young admins seem open to change and are willing to try things new.

On the flip side, I feel that older admins, are more experienced in some ways, may act more professional, and could be more devoted to their forums in some ways.

But either way, they both have advantages and disadvantages but both get the job done.

I don't know about advantages or disadvantages on how old or young you are as it all really depends on the person as I seen some very immature and mature young and older admins so age really doesn't mean or determine all that much.

I think personally it varies, some young admins are very mature and are more connected with the members, while some older ones can be immature and dont like to listen to reasons.

It vise-versa

Im 14 and im an admin, I tend to act mature so theres never really a differance between the young admins and the old ones.

NovaFlame - July 18, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
I don't think it matters as long as a young admin is mature

socrboy24 - July 23, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
I am almost 17 and i am an admin and i tend to act as mature as possible so i set an example for all the members on my boards they will hopefully follow

Well, currently I am 13, and I admin 2 of my own boards, with a 3rd one in the progress, there is no advantages/disadvantages in my opinion, it's the person's attitude and personality that makes them a good admin.

/agree

I agree it generally depends on the personality, though there's a whole lot of immature 12 year olds on the net doesn't mean they all are and likewise i've met 13 year olds more mature than some 30 year olds

Feris - August 8, 2008 12:44 PM (GMT)
It really depends. The younger ones seem to think they know it all, and know nothing. Experience does help in this line of work. And some miss the whole "What is an admin" concept, which makes me wonder if they know what it meant, would they continue. Same goes with the older ones that don't know that concept as well.

Sara [DA] - August 13, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
Well I don't think age is an issue (except for maybe the money part since older admins can probably buy things on the web when younger ones normally can't), more of maturity level.
