Title: All about stats
Jura - June 26, 2008 09:06 AM (GMT)
With the end of Clounge, it's just another reminder of how irrational people are with stats. It also reveals the weakness of the leadership with falling stats after another leader leaves. Discuss.

I'd be lieing if I said that stats don't play some part in the management of a forum. Stats are like sales. If your business isn't bringing in the sales, you lose hope.
I think tbh, CLounge appeared to lose their members as well, and exhausted their ideas. I wasn't a regular member on it, but when I did pop on, I didn't fit in like I do on an advertising forum (my fault).
I think that as long as you have fresh ideas on your forum, the stats will come with it. More members join (for the new ideas) and posts come naturally.

I know some forums that removed post counts from showing in topics or completely. Looks at the AnimeSuki forum, they never really cared about stats.
Hatori - June 26, 2008 09:32 AM (GMT)
They lost an important part of their brotherhood, TK. Without TK I think activity wouldn't stay.. I'm not sure about the issue though.. Sometimes stats resembles to your activity which resembles your forum's concept..
madgal - June 26, 2008 09:33 AM (GMT)
Part of fresh ideas, is stats though. If a service is filling up with posts - it tells you something - its working.
If the only person who posted in that area was the admin - then its not working.
Jura - June 26, 2008 09:44 AM (GMT)
As for ideas, Clounge was bloated with forum sections. I don't know about the lack of that. They also choose to go down the path of massive illegal downloads.
Just look at the offline page, it's mostly about stats (other than what happened) and not the idea or spirit of the forum.
Bluezone777 - June 26, 2008 11:53 AM (GMT)
lol you don't even know half of the story.
That board closed down because after TK left he went on MSN and convinced everyone to leave and start trying to bash our reputations into the ground which I do believe he failed as I got ahead of him on that one.
Furthermore, he was bugging the *I really shouldn't use bad language* out of everyone to stay active and when he left they knew that they didn't need to be to be left alone so they were all gone.
it's not just the stats which you focused on to bash us but rather the fact that ever since TK left the only people who still visit the board were staff and not one single regular member suggests that it's *I really shouldn't use bad language*ed beyond all hope of fixing it. so we felt we go out on top instead of waiting to end up as a dead forgotten board before closing.
Personally I felt that we both just didn't want to continue with it anymore as teh passon for being on there had vanished or at least it seemed that way to me. that and the TK departure and damage he done to it made us decide that it wasn't worth keeping that board around anymore.
Jura - June 26, 2008 12:05 PM (GMT)
Can't deny the focus on stats.
And now how are you two going to have a new forum? I can't see you starting over like all the other times...
Bluezone777 - June 26, 2008 12:09 PM (GMT)
The thing is there is more to the story then just stats and a lot of crap went on in private that not many really know about.
His project isn't going to be owning another forum as from what I was told, he wanted to actually take a break from owning boards for a while and work on something else that's not about building a new board.
As for me, I like to be able to focus more on Madads and IR then anything right now as any joy in being on CL has been slowly sucked out of me from all the crap that went on there hence why I was for closing it down.
Sheyenne - June 26, 2008 03:10 PM (GMT)
Jura, you don't know *I really shouldn't use bad language* so sit down and shut the *I really shouldn't use bad language* up will you?
Gah, kids these days think they know everything, and yet, know nothing. BZ explained it the way it is. No focus was on stats. But when you didn't see any members on for a *I really shouldn't use bad language*ing week, what was you supposed to do? This isn't Anime Gerad, who's slow a *I really shouldn't use bad language*. CL was going very good until a stake was droven into it.. Know what the hell you are talking about before you ever speak again son.
Now as far as me. I still have IR and Hireem (And hopefully maybe here again someday). But my main focus is working on AMG Paradise and getting the site as big as possible. Then once I accompolish that task, then I will be BUILDING my own Bulletin Board Software.
So, now you know and have something to know about.

Here we go again with the god complex. You can do no wrong, yet everyone else are fools.

Uhh how do you get that post to god complex?
He didn't say anything to indicate he's a god from what I can see. But maybe you see things I can't?

CL was an amazing forum that took a lot of dedication from everyone for it to grow.
Of course stats is a big part of a forum's growth or downfall but It's not necessarily the only factor.
Sometimes inside factors like staff problems and power hungry members bring the downfall of a forum.
I've seen CL since it started and it grew partly because of its increasing stats and dedicated staff. :D

Never said it was the only factor, but thanks for being open minded.
Sariki - June 27, 2008 07:42 AM (GMT)
In my opinion stats do have a huge thing to do with it.
If there is no activity or stats are low people are going to be discouraged and won't come in or even post.
Therefore if you have good stats to compare too then it tends to bring in the crowd.
Now that is just my opinion...

I'm not saying stats aren't important, but stats being the focus can drive a forum to its death.

And here we go again with your total and utter ignorance. When are you going to grow the hell up boy and learn to know what the hell you are talking about? Gah, kids these days.
Jura - June 28, 2008 11:43 AM (GMT)
Can't even defend yourself or your past forums without a bunch of insults. Sad.
Xarina - June 28, 2008 12:00 PM (GMT)
Well to me it seems your main agenda is just to trash CL which is even more sad in my opinion. But sorta sweet that you miss it so much :D
Jura - June 28, 2008 01:25 PM (GMT)
Why would I miss something I'm trashing?

So you're confessing to trashing it?
If you didn't like the place why would you want to trash it. You must be upset it's gone so in a way you must miss it. Why would you bother even mentioning it otherwise.
Jura - June 28, 2008 01:35 PM (GMT)
Because the board was so hyped.
And I didn't confess to such. o.O
Bluezone777 - June 28, 2008 01:44 PM (GMT)
The advertising aspect of CL was mostly TK's doing. we really didn't do much in that regard outside of perhaps bump some ad topics well at least from what I seen.
so any issues you had with the advertising or hyping up of CL really belong to the guy who did almost all of the advertising.
Cloverfield - July 5, 2008 04:58 PM (GMT)
I had no idea CLounge shut down. Why did TK leave?

He needed to get thanked for pretty much every single thing he did on there or for it. He also didn't think me and Sheyenne was dedicated because neither of us was spending half a day on there as well as doing as much work as TK spent nearly most of his day on the computer posting on CL or advertising it or some other task.
He got so bent out of shape over it that he went off and slagged off Sheyenne in front of all the members when he quit and when he got called out on what he did he got pissed and started posting tirades at different forums where he got soundly beaten for it. these days he hides out at a powerpuff girls fan forum under a new name.
