Kobe Bryant decided to put off surgery on his injured hand in order to play for the United States at the Olympics in Beijing later this summer, according to The Orange County Register.
Doctors confirmed that surgery is absolutely necessary.
Bryant will have the procedure after the Olympics, which might put his participation in the Lakers' training camp prior to the 2008-09 season in jeopardy.
"There never was any doubt about Kobe being involved, God-willing," said Jerry Colangelo, the managing director of the USA Men’s Senior Basketball Team. |
I'd honestly rather have him 100% for camp, but I guess when you're Kobe Bryant, you don't need training camp <_<

I'd rather have him in the Olympics actually. He missed out last time because of that 'incident.' Here in LA, we're rooting for him no matter what he does. And he doesn't need training camp. He's the best player in the league I'm sure he can set some stuff up with Phil.

Even so, the more time he has to recover from the surgery, the better for the Lakers.
Either way, this years Olympic team is stacked.

Kobe Bryant = The 2nd best player to ever play the sport.
How on earth did you come to the conclusion that he's overrated?
