Have you ever need to use Geek Squad or a similar service to fix your PC? Was it helpful?

Xarina - June 24, 2008 01:05 PM (GMT)

Esaul - June 24, 2008 01:09 PM (GMT)

Xarina - June 24, 2008 01:26 PM (GMT)
o.0 you thought I was american?

Ladyknuckles - June 24, 2008 05:03 PM (GMT)
lol I only think people on this forum is either European, Asian, or Spanish, or French. I exclude Americans. o_o

ANYWAYS, I plan to work for the geek squad for a bit during college, because I think I just about forgot everything I know Computer Software. But yeah, If I knew what i was doing, I wouldn't need them. But since tis is the only comp in the house, and I'm only IC3 certified, I can't touch the computer physically like i want to. My mother wants me to not do anything stupid to it. :(

Never heard of them either. Only time ive needed other peoples help is when my PC wouldnt recover when the partition was removed. Thats about it - and that was the supplier of the machine.

If theres something up with the PC i'll try fix it myself (Y)

No... I've always gone to an online forum to ask for help. It's called Bleeping Computer. They are really helpful.

Lol, all of the horror stories from Geek Squad make me cringe. Besides they will pretty much tell you that Linux is a virus when it's not. Geek Squad is just a tool of Best Buy to get you to buy items that you normally would not...

That quite interesting, seeing as I have never heard of that when i took Comp. Maintenance, and it has nothing but GS situations on how to deal with a comp error. And I haven't heard of them saing Linux being a virus and I know people who work for them. But Whatever I guess. I guess it also depends on which best buy you go to, the employees, and such.

froggyboy604 - September 20, 2008 06:29 AM (GMT)
No, I never hired anyone to fix my PC.

If someone is already using Linux, I doubt they'd use or need Geek Squad.

DanChorley - September 28, 2008 11:56 AM (GMT)
Nope. I troubleshoot myself, and find a solution myself.

poiuyt580 - October 8, 2008 11:43 PM (GMT)

Darkshadowz. - October 11, 2008 04:29 PM (GMT)

Black Angel - October 20, 2008 07:53 AM (GMT)
Nope. Between the two of us, we've got pretty much everything covered. Whatever stumps me, is what he can fix, and whatever stumps him, is explained by our best friend who is a certified A+ technician.
